Parish Council By-Election – The Candidates

As we reported back in October Cllr. Sandy Frow resigned from the Whitwell Parish Council leaving a vacancy on the council.

As ten or more residents of Whitwell requested an election to fill the vacancy a by-election will take place on Thursday 10th Januaey 2013 between 7AM and 10PM with voting taking place at the Community Centre and the Bakestone Moor Friendship Hall.

Bolsover District Council today published the official list of candidates for the election, they are as follows in the published order:

  • AUSTIN, Karl Peter Hill; Whitwell Residents Assocation
  • BURDETT, Simon Charles; The Labour Party

Candidate names were taken from the list published on the Bolsover District Council "Upcoming Elections" page on 13th December 2012, 10:30.

Parish Council 2011

The results of the 2011 Whitwell Parish Council elections on 5th May 2011 were announced on Friday 6th May 2011 and were as follows:

  1. 596 votes – George Owen Webster (Whitwell Residents Association)
  2. 526 votes – Stuart Maiden (Whitwell Residents Association)
  3. 520 votes – Sandra Valerie Frow (Indepedent)
  4. 513 votes – Vivienne Patricia Mills (Whitwell Residents Association)
  5. 494 votes – Thomas Ian Munro (Labour)
  6. 470 votes – Scott Ellis (Labour)
  7. 454 votes – Jeanne Marjorie Raspin (Labour)
  8. 437 votes – Julie Burdett (Labour)
  9. 434 votes – Frank Philip Raspin (Labour)
  10. 416 votes – Simon Charles Burdett (Labour)
  11. 408 votes – Kenneth Astle (Whitwell Residents Association)
  12. 393 votes – Steven Greaves (Whitwell Residents Association)
  13. 392 votes – Janet Mary Astle (Whitwell Residents Association)
  14. 329 votes – Amanda Jayne Beamish (Whitwell Residents Association)
  15. 309 votes – Karl Peter Hill Austin (Whitwell Residents Association)
  16. 29 Spoilt Ballots

The outcome means that the Whitwell Residents Association no longer holds a majority on the Parish Council with 7 seats, now holding only 3 of 8.

All results come in to effect Monday 9th May, with the first Parish Council meeting of the newly formed council taking place on Wednesday 18th May 2011.

District Council 2011

The results of the 2011 Bolsover District Council elections on 5th May 2011 were announced on Friday 6th May 2011 and were as follows:

  1. 453 votes – Duncan Alistair Kerr (Green Party)
  2. 452 votes – George Owen Webster (Whitwell Residents Association)
  3. 383 votes – Thomas Ian Munro (Labour Party)
  4. 378 votes – Sandra Valerie Frow (Independent)
  5. 342 votes – Jeanne Marjorie Raspin (Labour Party)
  6. 326 votes – Vivienne Patricia Mills (Whitwell Residents Association)
  7. 19 Spoilt Ballots

The outcome means that George Webster retains his seat on the District Council for Whitwell Parish and Vivienne Mills loses her place on the District Council.

All results come in to effect Monday 9th May.
