The 40th year of the Whitwell Well Dressing saw an impressive display of 3 scenes, one created entirely by the members of the Scouts and Guides without any adult help.
The rain (mostly) held off, the sun shone (on and off), the band played, people sang, drank tea and ate scones whilst being entertained by Casper and the Fleas – Whitwell’s very own ‘Uke’ rock band.
Hopefully the Scouts and Guides have raised themselves some well earned funds in the process.
The 2012 Whitwell Well Dressing Festival will commence on Saturday 7th July from 1PM with a parade around the village and celebrations at the two village pumps.
This year is the 40th year for the Well Dressing Festival in Whitwell and to celebrate the Scouts and Guides have produced a book showcasing many of the designs over the years.
Photos from the 2011 Whitwell Well Dressing on the 2nd July.
The well dressing will take place from July 2nd to July 9th, with the dedication taking place at 2:30PM on Saturday 2nd on the village green (on the High Street).
As usual there will be two well dressings, the one on the Village Green and one down at the pump in The Square.
We look forward to some good summer weather and some great photos of this years well dressing – so if you’re involved or get any good photos then please get in touch.
